Welcome to Standon Parish Council

IMG_2386_2Welcome to the Standon Parish Council’s websit

IMPORTANT NOTE: We are currently in the process of setting up a new website. This site will not be updated, so if you wish to read copies of the recent agendas and/or minutes of the council meetings these can be found on our noticeboards or obtained from our Clerk Belinda Irons.

Standon Parish Council is non-political and is made up of three wards, Colliers End, Puckeridge and Standon.

On the site you will find out a little about the History of Parish Councils, what we do and how you can contact us.

Parish Councils are the first tier of Local Government and therefore have an important role to play in local democracy. Whilst some powers have been taken away over the years we are still able to work with the local community, ensuring what powers we do have make the Parish a pleasant place to live and work by maintaining, protecting and developing the environment around us.

In England there are nearly 100,000 Parish and Town Councillors who make up around 10,000 Parish, Town and Community Councils.

We are all unpaid volunteers who have either been elected or co-opted and stood because we want to make a difference by influencing decisions that affect our local communities.

Contacting us

We are here to help but can only be effective if you let us know your issues and concerns relating to the Parish. So why not come along to a meeting, we meet on the fourth Thursday of the month (January to November). At the meeting the public can raise any matters under Parishioner’s Comments. However, whilst you can just turn up to a meeting and speak during Parishioner’s Comments, it is always useful to know of issues in advance. So why not get in touch via the details on the Councillors page or fill out our contact form.
